Plein Air Painter -Protector of the lands and endangered animals

American Contemporary plein air painter.

Out door artists are very aware of the changes in the landscape they live in daily.
They see buildings demolished, trees cut, streams dry up, and species thin out.

Years ago, I was involved with Save the Whales, educating grade school children to be aware of what was happening to the magnificent giants of the deep - how they were being exploited and driven to extinction.

Our planet is so very fragile and the balance easily upset, as we're all seeing...

In Nairobi, a tiny baby elephant was separated from the herd, no doubt because of poachers.
She lost her way and perhaps looking for water, fell down a well.

She was rescued , along with other orphans and is being tended to and nourished. Her name is Naipoki (her name means "something painted) in Maa.

Recently, I adopted baby Naipoki and will get updates on her progress, until she, like others before her, is successfully returned to the wild.

Sometimes a little act can have 'elephant size' effects.

I hope she does well...

Plein air painter - we're very fortunate

St. Lucia, West Indies

American Contemporary plein air painter.

We're in a unique position as outdoor painters, to reach out and touch people's lives, when they see us painting on location. We interact with people, curious about why we're on a street corner painting or truly interested in art and appreciative to watch.

We're given unsolicited advice and stories about their Uncle Bob who painted pictures and their very talented niece who is only 6 but loves to draw.

People are fascinated with seeing an image appear, almost like magic on a canvas that starts with just a few brushstrokes. After all, we are abstract artists (all of us) starting a tree with a stroke here and there.

We're able to take a 3 dimensional scene and hopefully transfer the essence of it to a 2 dimensional surface with enough mystery to enable the artist to get lost in the scene and pass on this state of mind to the observer.

I was just thinking this morning how incredibly fortunate visual artists are. A poet or a songwriter or musician, can reach masses but, can't put an original work in a public space with the purpose of having someone fall in love with it and take it home...we touch peoples lives, one work at a time..

Plein Air Painter - Plagarism

Plagarism - it exists...
But don't you just hate when someone comes along and takes the words right off your
website and writes articles and BLOGS - My article is clearly labeled copyright and may not be reproduced without written permission.
I am so upset ! I found another artist who had written an article on a site called Empty Easel about Choosing an Art Workshop - only when I started reading, she had plagarized an article I had written and copyrighted clearly 5 years ago ! It's also on her blog at http://elicedrone.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-to-have-great-workshop-experience.html

American Artist magazine - Niagara Falls plein air painter

Studio News...
American Artist magazine has called International Plein Air Painters (an organization founded by Jacqueline in 2001) one of the world's foremost international landscape painting groups... the magazine has also featured her plein air oil painting titled "American Falls' in their April 2008 issue.

I am very honored to be featured by this icon magazine and to be a part of the groundbreaking World Tour of Contemporary Landscape Artists

Jacqueline Baldini

The April issue of American Artist magazine features the Far & Near Horizons World Tour of Contemporary Landscape Artists prominently on page 11 in the "Quick Sketches" department. Tour participants and organizers J.R. Baldini (Founder, IPAP) and Karl Eric Leitzel (Founder, LAI) have paintings accompanying the article. Linda Richichi, the former North America Tour Director, is also quoted. For your enjoyment, here is a preview of the page. (Click on the image for a larger version.)
